VOLUNTEERS

You CAN help….

Become a Volunteer with NSW Animal Rescue Inc

Life will never be the same…

Now I know you are probably thinking that you couldn’t
volunteer because :

  • You can’t have an animal in your house because of living in
    a rental etc

  • You just don’t really like dogs or cats…

  • Volunteering takes up too much time…..

  • It’s not your thing, after all volunteers have to turn up to
    meetings every month etc etc……

Now that the ‘objections are out of the way, let me tell you CAN
help by being a volunteer with us.  There are many ways you can
help, even if you aren’t a dog or cat person, but you DO have a
heart for animal welfare, we NEED your help!

The needs and demands of our community are putting an increasing
strain on our little Rescue and we need more volunteers urgently.
Our volunteers help in the following areas:

Animal Care – working either directly from our Headquarters,
or becoming a foster carer, we need volunteers who can help
rehabilitate our animals, show them that someone cares and loves
them, get them through their trauma and also help find them
wonderful new ‘forever’ homes.

Animal Care Training - NSW Animal Rescue Inc.
will commence training our long term volunteers and carers in the
TAFE Certificate II Animal Studies
course mid 2008.  This course is offered at minimal
charge to our members.

Fundraising – we need to be constantly raising funds for our
Rescue as we do not get any regular government or private
funding.  Without the help of businesses and individuals,
we would not be able to run our Rescue and many
animals would die needlessly and in pain.  At the moment,
one of our main fundraising activities is through sausage
sizzles throughout the community on a regular basis.
We need volunteers to man these sausage sizzles,
so if you like a good BBQ and you don’t mind talking
with people…come along, we need you.

We are also hoping to undertake several more great
fundraising activities throughout 2007, but we cant do it
without dedicated volunteers to help coordinate them,
run them, and also promote them throughout the community.
So if you have  a head for ideas, a heart for fun, and the
guts to talk with businesses and people…give us a call !

Foster Caring – this is  an area we take very seriously.
After our animals have spent some time at headquarters,
and they are well enough to take that next step, we send
them to the homes of our foster carers, who look after
them until they find their ‘forever’ homes.
Some of our carers prefer certain types of animals,
which is fine by us.  We have carers who only take puppies,
as they don’t mind the round the clock feedings etc etc.
Others take our special needs animals who have various
different medical needs, and need round the clock care.
Still others have facilities to take some of our ‘unusual’
charges such as chickens, birds etc..

Office Work – Our office is a fun place to work, and there
is always something to do.

There is a heap of fun involved in being a Volunteer with
NSW Animal Rescue.  All our Volunteers get together regularly
for social activities, as well as to gain feedback from how
things are going.  We believe in being one big happy family,
with the animals as our main beneficiaries.

Volunteering doesn’t take a heap of time from you;
we appreciate ANY time you can give us. So whether
you have a few hours a day, or a couple of hours a month,
or anywhere in between, we would love to hear from you.
